I want to share something that gets shared with me daily: The Daily Stoic Email Meditations. I can’t count the number of times I read one of Ryan Holiday’s emails and think, Wow, that was timely. Then I look at the authors prominently involved: Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus—these guys are talking about challenges, opportunities, insights, and wisdom applying to their everyday lives—everyday lives that were lived around 2,000 years ago. Timeless is timely. (For someone—me—who has a tumultuous relationship with his inbox, recommending a daily email should give you some idea of how highly I regard these.)
There’s a quote (I think it’s Zig Ziglar): “People say motivation doesn’t last long. Neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it Daily.” I think this applies to meditation, fitness, mindset, and probably many of the important things in our lives.
Something related in the timely/timeless department: a story involving Warren Buffett, who in many ways reminds me of the aforementioned Stoics in his philosophical approach to life and investing: check out his strategy/advice for achieving all of your career goals. Simple. Just don’t confuse simple with easy.
